MTS’ long-awaited April 2022 Concert!

  • by

After two long years of watchful waiting throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, Music Time School was happy to host its largest school concert and recital on Saturday, April 23rd, 2022 at Huntingtower Performing Arts Centre. The concert was a day-long affair, with a total of three sessions covering a variety of instruments and players.

Session One focussed on guzheng ensembles from all grade levels, starting from the adorable Old MacDonald Had a Farm performance by the 5-year-old group. The session ended off with several stunning solo performances, including 春到湘江 played by Kata Liu, Senbonzakura played by Kershia Zhu, and 临安遗恨 played by Georgia Zhou.

Session Two was dominated by an assortment of flute and piano students, each with their own unique take on classical pieces by composers such as Mozart, Chopin, and Beethoven. The MTS band also had its first performance since MTS’s 2019 concert, performing songs such as Euterpe by Ryo/Supercell and Fuyu no Hanashi by Centimillimental.

Session Three saw piano, violin, drum, saxophone, guzheng, and singing performances from an even greater range of musical genres. Students had a blast playing songs from beloved movies such as Jurassic Park and Mary Poppins. Finishing off the session was another round of performances from the MTS band, playing 5PM from the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game that provided a virtual getaway for many during the 2020 pandemic, as well as My Dearest by Ryo/Supercell.
